Women's suffrage campaigner Millicent Fawcett to be honoured with statue in Parliament Square
April 3, 2017
The Association of Women Barristers welcomes the news that a statue of a leading campaigner for women's suffrage is to be put up in London's Parliament Square.
Dame Millicent Fawcett, who campaigned for the right of women to vote, will be the first woman honoured with a statue in the square, and will stand in the company of 11 men including Sir Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela.
This serves as a reminder of how far we have come in the battle against injustice and as an inspiration for aspiring towards true equality.
